Can Breastfeeding with Implants Cause Sagging?
While there are many wonderful aspects to having a baby, the after effects on a mother’s body can be difficult. Some women opt to get breast lifts and implants to rejuvenate the appearance of their breasts, to pre-baby condition. But what if having and nursing another baby causes the breasts to sag, that could undo the benefits of the procedure and possibly cause the need for further procedures. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons has found that breastfeeding does not increase sagging in women who have breast implants for augmentation. This includes Gummy Bear implants.
It is important to address this concern to dispel any concerns that breastfeeding may undo results of augmentation, because breastfeeding is very important to the health and well being of both the mother and the baby, lowering the risks of type two diabetes, breast cancer, ovarian cancer and post-partum depression. And in the babies it helps fight diseases, strengthen their immune system and build a stronger bond between the baby and mother.
The study was done by monitoring the measurements of women who had augmentation and breastfed and those who did not breastfeed. They were measured before pregnancy and then one year after pregnancy or after completing breastfeeding. The results showed that there is very little significant difference. A study very similar, which monitored the measurements of women without implants, indicated that breastfeeding was not what caused sagging, but changes having to do with pregnancy.
