7 Key Tips Before After Your Breast Augmentation Surgery

If you opt to have breast augmentation surgery with Dr. Fiorillo in New York, you are in extremely experienced hands. To ensure the best results after your breast augmentation surgery, you should keep the following tips in mind:

  • Drink plenty of water before and after surgery. This can help to reduce nausea after your operation.
  • You should eat something when you take your pain medications. Some patients eat soda crackers, but this does not always work. Try a piece of white bread, toast, or part of a peanut butter sandwich. If you take your medications without any food, this can upset the stomach.
  • Get used to sleeping on your back; you will need to do so for at least a few days after your breast augmentation.
  • Tell Dr. Fiorillo about any medications that you take, including nutritional supplements, blood pressure or heart medication, antidepressants, insulin, etc.
  • Do not take any medication that contains aspirin for two weeks before the surgery. This can increase your chances of bleeding during surgery.
  • If you smoke, you need to quit at least 4-6 weeks before the operation. If it is impossible for you to stop smoking, cut back as much as possible. This is very important if you are having a breast lift. Smoking reduces your oxygen levels in the blood. This will slow the healing process. A patient having a breast lift who smokes could have serious complications, such as necrosis (tissue death).
  • Have clothes ready that are easy to wear, and easy to put on and take off. You will need to have button up shirts for at least a week or two after the operation.
